Antarctica

This is the place to visit for a short side trip when you are in the very southern part of South America. You can actually take a cruise from Argentina to Antarctica. It’s probably not the most intuitive thing to do, but it’s definitely a good idea if you’re planning on traveling to South America anyway and the cruise to Antarctica is worth it. You’ll find some of the most surreal-looking seas and landscapes, as well as some great wildlife, including a variety of penguins, whales, seals, and many other types of birds. You also get the ultimate bragging rights, because how many of your friends can really say they’ve gone to the end of the world?

Carnival

There really is nothing better than celebrating the world’s biggest carnival celebration in Rio de Janeiro. Carnival is a time of expression and the costume and music certainly match this free form of expression. Floats are also a spectacle with many colors and designs that are out of this world. It must be the best place to dance in the world and there is no question about it.

Hike the Inca Trail

The Inca Trail is the way to the Sacred Valley and the ancient city of Machu Picchu. It is one of the wonders of the world and you can experience the mountainous environment, subtropical forests, and many Inca ruins in this region. The trail was used by the Inca people to reach Machu Picchu and is a physically demanding experience that will surely leave you with the feeling that you earned everything you saw along the way have done it.

Explore Amazon

Amazingly the Amazon is home to a third of the world’s animal species and this makes it an incredible place to explore. The huge diversity of plant life is also another thing that is very interesting, as there are believed to be thousands of plants that are yet to be discovered there. It is a great place to visit and the best way to do so is by boat, trust me you will never forget the lush green forests and amazing animals.

These small islands are located off the coast of Ecuador. They are particularly famous for the Galapagos tortoise, which is the largest species of turtle on the entire planet. These are really to be believed and some can weigh more than 400 kgs.
