TVS Sport vs Hero Splendor Plus: Comparison

As you jump to the detailed comparison of these two bikes, you should know that the TVS Sport is cheaper than the Hero Splendor Plus. That said, the former offers a better performance than the latter. Therefore, both are among the bestselling bikes in the country.

The Hero Splendor Plus topped the chart in the first quarter of 2022 as far as sales are concerned. There are other Hero bikes that you can consider, as they cater to different buyers with different budgets. Let’s digress from that and understand how these two bikes stand against each other. There is definitely a price difference, but if you seek better performance at an affordable price, TVS is the bike for you.

So, let’s begin to weigh these two homegrown offerings.

Specifications Comparison
As mentioned earlier, the TVS Sport offers better engine output than its 100cc counterpart. Under the TVS in-house built single cradle tubular chassis, it carries a 110cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine, which churns out 8.18 bhp at 7,350 rpm and
8.7 Nm of torque at 4,500 rpm.
In addition, TVS Motors markets the TVS Sport as a mileage bike. You can consider other TVS bikes that cater to performance-oriented buyers as well.

On the contrary, the Hero Splendor Plus has a double-cradle tubular frame, which makes the bike more rigid and agile. Between the frame, there is a 97.2cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine, which is tuned to generate 7.91 bhp at 8,000 rpm and
8.05 Nm of peak torque at 6,000 rpm; it would have been better if Hero Motors had offered an engine with a larger displacement at the price it demands.

Both bikes send power to their rear wheels via their four-speed manual transmissions. Moreover, the mechanism of their clutches incorporates a wet multiplate, which offers smoother gear shifts and better durability than the conventional dry multiplate clutch. With the offered combinations, the TVS Sport’s mileage ranges between 65 kmpl and 70 kmpl. On the other hand, the Hero Splendor Plus’s mileage is around 60 km/l. These figures are as per the owners. However, it is worth mentioning that the real-world mileage may still vary as per the local traffic conditions and individuals’ riding styles.

Moreover, the BS6 engines on these bikes are fuel-efficient, all thanks to the fuel injection technology. Before the production of BS6 two-wheelers, the Indian government had passed an order to adopt the fuel injection technology for reduced emissions and improved fuel efficiency.

Besides that, TVS has offered a 10-liter fuel tank capacity, while the Hero Splendor Plus has 9.8-litres. But at the same time, owners of these two bikes can make long journeys without worrying about the running costs.

Hero Splendor Plus

As for the suspension setup, the TVS Sport boasts oil-damped telescopic forks at the front and five-step adjustable hydraulic shock absorbers at the rear. On the other hand, the Hero bike manufacturer has offered telescopic hydraulic shock absorbers at the front and five-step adjustable shock absorbers at the rear. Yes, their setups are nearly identical. The only difference is that the TVS Sport’s front suspension is damped, while the Splendor Plus’s front suspension is not.

However, the suspension setups on these bikes can easily withstand obstacles. That said, they can absorb the bumps from the potholes like a cakewalk, offering a comfortable ride. But it is recommended to take a test drive before purchasing the vehicle, as the riding experience may vary from person to person.

Along with the offered suspension setups, both bikes come with dual drum brakes. It would have been better if the top variants of these homegrown mileage bikes had an optional disc-drum setup. Speaking of brakes, both the offerings’ brakes work in tandem with single-channel ABS. They miss out on dual-channel ABS as well.
It is worth mentioning that the combination of dual disc brakes and dual-channel ABS always works the best. They reduce the chances of mishaps by preventing the bike from skidding during emergencies. That said, the owner of a vehicle should always get vehicle insurance and other related insurance as per their wishes. Insurance policies can save someone a lot of money in the case of any mishap.

Features
Expect few features from these two bikes, even if they are top-of-the-line models. They both have analogue instrument clusters, but they miss out on basic new-age features such as a low battery indicator and a low engine oil indicator. Only the fuel level indicator is there on the cluster.

Unlike the TVS Sport, only the top model of the Hero Splendor Plus boasts a USB charging port.

Moreover, the TVS Sport’s instrument cluster gets an ECO indicator. That indicator flashes when the bike runs efficiently.

As for the lighting, both the top models of these indigenous bikes offer front halogen lights that work in tandem with DRLs. Speaking of illumination, this Hero bike from the Splendor series boasts automatic headlights. Yes, neither of the bikes has LED lights as an option.

However, you can access a curated list of features and specifications for your dream vehicle on the autoX website.
